A real gem (Copy of review on Trip Advisor)

Well what more can we say? We are back from an amazing week away. Roger and Jane couldn't have been any more welcoming from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. The gite is very well appointed, clean, comfy and with everything you need in it to make your stay perfect. We were provided with an amazing welcome basket with more than enough provisions to make dinner after a long journey. The recommendations for where to go and what to see in the local area were so helpful too. Roger and Jane are 5* hosts and we would highly recommend staying with them.

Our third attempt, due to Covid, to revisit. Again as with previous visits the standard of accommodation is excellent. Everything has been thought of, including a welcome pack of food for first evening if needed. Private poll is perfection. Roger and Jane are excellent hosts, on hand if needed. Mirepeisset is a delightful village with a shop, and a couple of good restaurants. Give Bistrot De La Placette a try, good food at s great price.

Fabulous! (Copy of review on Trip Advisor)

We had an amazing week in Le Fleurie. Roger was very kind, helpful and knowledgeable which enabled us to visit places we would not have found. The Gite is so good! Clean, welcoming and spacious. We were there with our son and daughter in law and two teenage daughters and it was the best of times. We would definitely return.

What a fabulously lazy week we’ve just spent at La Fleurie. We arrived to a very generous welcome pack. I’d messaged to say we may be late as we needed to nip to the supermarket. Roger assured me there was no need as he’d got provisions. An absolute godsend after a long drive. The gite was spotless, well equipped & spacious. We are a family of 6 so it worked perfectly. The layout is great. So nice to step outside the double doors of the kitchen to your own enclosed garden with a pool just a few feet away. All a bit too nice. Roger popped by early on to explain all the delights the region had to offer. We thoroughly enjoyed the places we did visit but I feel we only scratched the surface as the gite, pool & bbq were so inviting! I wish we’d booked 2 weeks!

Wonderful gite, superb host and a great base to explore the region (Copy from Trip Advisor)

We had a fantastic stay at the La Fleurie. The gite was well appointed and had great pool area which gave both shade and sun throughout the day. Our host Roger was superb, very knowledgeable about the area and provided us with lots of suggestions for trips and restaurants. The gite was perfectly located to explore the region. Would highly recommend

This was our first visit to this part of the Languedoc and it couldn't have been more perfect. Roger was present to greet us and show us around the lovely property and pool. There is a very comprehensive list of recommendations for days out and restaurants, everyone we tried was fantastic and without this detail we would not have had the experience we did. Our stay coincided with a heatwave, so to have a pool available was a huge bonus. The only negative was that we booked for 1 week and not longer, there are so many local attractions for all age groups, from Kayaking down the Orb, Mediterranean beaches, historical towns, hill top villages, the Canal Du Midi, the list goes on. Many thanks again Roger

A very happy return (copy from Trip Advisor)

We had very happy memories from a family holiday here in 2017 and decided to return in 2022, this time with grown sons and their girlfriends. We had a wonderful 2 weeks in the beautiful village of Mirepeisset. Lovely accommodation, a gorgeous and much needed pool and short drives to so many fabulous places.

Myself and 4 friends spent a fabulous week here. The accommodation was beyond our expectations, with everything you could possibly need. The pool was private and a welcome treat after mornings exploring the area. The location gave us access to Narbonne, Carcassonne, Canal du Midi and the beach amongst others. Would definitely recommend the Gite if you want a truly superb place to stay in the heart of the Languedoc wine area.

An excellent tranquil haven (copy from Trip Advisor)

Roger and Jane provided an excellent property well equipped with everything you need for a wonderful holiday. The welcome and advice was exemplary as was the welcome pack. The Gite is situated in a quiet village but handily placed to tour the area. Thank you Roger and Jane, we enjoyed our stay immensely.

A fantastic gîte, in an idyllic location, made for the perfect family holiday (Copy of review on Trip Advisor)

Mike | 07/05/2022 |
We spent a fantastic week in early May at La Fleurie, a wonderful, clean, modern, spacious gîte that also manages to seamlessly retain old world charm. The small but idyllic, privately enclosed garden with spotlessly clean pool, was the perfect place to relax before and after a busy (or relaxing) day walking, cycling or touring around this exceptionally beautiful and interesting part of the Languedoc in southwest France. Owners, Roger and Jane, were the perfect hosts: providing a great welcome pack and offering very helpful recommendations on the many restaurants and highlights in the region; always very friendly and on hand if you needed them but otherwise leaving you in peace to enjoy all that this wonderful area has to offer. With the Canal du Midi and endless vineyards on its doorstep, surrounded by beautiful villages, towns and places of historical interest as well as a wealth of natural beauty, from the Massif de la Clape to endless stretches of golden sandy beaches, I could not recommend Le Fleurie and Roger and Jane’s hospitality highly enough as the perfect destination for a relaxing yet invigorating holiday destination.

Excellent gite in a wonderful region (copy of review on Trip Advisor)

Evy | 24/07/2021 |
We had a great one week stay at La Fleurie : a spacious gite, clean and very well equipped and with an enjoyable closed garden with excellent pool. A special thank you to Roger and Jane for their hospitality and for sharing all the tips to visit the surrounding area and also for their advice on restaurants. The welcome pack in the fridge was also very well appreciated ! La Fleurie is located in an area ideal for cycling along the impressive Canal du Midi and near the coast, visiting historic venues like the Cathar Castles and Carcassonne, nice historic towns like Minerve and Gruissan, beautiful nature and the coast is never far away. Highly recommended ! A big thanks to Roger and Jane for their part in making our vacation wonderful.

Perfect base for both relaxing and trips in the area (Copy of review on Trip Advisor)

A super gite with a small but wonderful closed garden with a great pool that is big enough for a family to play in all day long – the garden is sunny and private surrounded by beautiful plants and is perfect to stay in from early morning to late evening. We visited in July and spent all our time outside. The house is spacious, perfectly cleaned, well equipped and time has been put into making sure that you have everything you need – even out of the standard stuff such as a cooling box for picnics, umbrellas for the beach, electric mosquito plugs etc. Every bedroom has its own bathroom, which just makes life easier. An extra plus is the private parking on the property. The hosts are extremely welcoming and with really great local knowledge. They go above and beyond to make sure you have a nice stay. We were a little hesitant at the thought of hosts living on the same property but their thoughtful and accommodating way actually made the vacation even better The area in general is with amazing nature, great history and lots of possibilities for whole or half day trips and nice restaurants for all budgets. We went to several places recommended by Roger and were never disappointed! We would recommend this place (and hosts) to anyone going to this region and would not hesitate to go there again. A big thanks to Roger and Jane for their part in making our vacation wonderful.

Fabulous dog friendly residence (copy of review on Trip Advisor)

Clare and Cliff | 26/09/2020 |
This was our 3rd visit to Le Fleurie. We love it because it's totally private, with an enclosed garden, which is dog secure. The pool is maintained daily. The house is exceptionally clean and well maintained. The linen is changed weekly. The owner is on hand to provide help and advice and can book local restaurants. The local shop is open daily for fresh bread and provisions. There are so many local walks, right from the doorstep with immediate access to the river, canal and vineyards. The beach, Narbonne, and Carcassonne are within easy reach by car. Everyone in the village and the area were covid safe, wearing masks and keeping distance. We felt safer there than in the UK. It was a marvelous break from such a stressful covid year. We were totally relaxed and recharged our batteries. Thoroughly recommended.

Excellent and recommended! (Copy of review on Trip Advisor)

Super accommodation: clean, modern, spacious, tasteful decor. Relaxing and good-sized pool. First-class and thoughtful hosts (food and drink already in the fridge when we arrived!). Nice position to travel to nearby towns, abbies, coast and vineyards. Also, considerate of all COVID issues (very clean, left to yourselves, good advice). Thank you!

Beautifully maintained private home from home, with secure and secluded garden - great for pets and children. The pool was cleaned every day and the patio swept. It's in a great location, with a choice of several beaches 40-45 minutes away. Lovely walks through the vineyards, or along the river and the Canal du Midi. We walked to the local shop each morning for fresh bread and croissants and ate on the patio. Everyone in the village is very friendly. # There are plenty of places to eat, one in the village and many more a short drive away. Roger is a great host, providing help and advice without being intrusive. He and his wife are always on hand if required.

Having already been warmly greeted at Le Fitou which is part of the same holiday venue and across the courtyard from La Fleurie, we crossed over to La Fleurie on the Saturday to spend eight nights with our 80 year old parents. This property was a real jewel in as much it was really private and we had access to our own private pool in the rear garden area. Having got used to ‘village life’ in Mirepeisset Roger and Jane gave us plenty of food for thought about what we could see and do for the next week or so. The accommodation was perfectly presented with everything you’d need on this type of holiday including items you would normally have to shop for i.e: Toilet rolls, dishwasher tablets, charcoal, firelighters for the BBQ etc. My 80 year old mother fortified by local wine early in the week told Roger that Wild water swimming was on her ‘Bucket List’ result Roger suggested a visit to Roquebrun about 40 minutes drive away to swim in the river. To be fair to her we made the drive to Roquebrun and she actually did swim in the river – another one crossed off. There is plenty to see and do including Wine tasting and beach all within close proximity 20 – 40 mins Would we return to The Winemakers House – Yes of course.

We had a wonderful stay at La Fleurie. It is a beautifully converted barn with three ensuite bathrooms and large living area and delightful garden and pool. The space was immaculate when we arrived and a welcome package of food awaited. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. Fantastically situated for exploring the region, with activities for all the family, including biking along the Canal du Midi, kayaking, exploring the historical sights and wine tasting. One week was not enough!

Fabulous gite in an ideal location for seeing this beautiful area (Copy of review on French Connections)

A wonderful week spent only scratching the surface of what the area has to offer - castles and history, beautiful villages, dramatic scenery, wine gallore, beaches and outdoor sports etc - ideal for all ages within the family. La Fleurie is a comfortable, well equipped base in a quintessentially french village complete with 'epiceree' and 'taverne' within walking distance for daily croissants. Larger supermarkets are just a few minutes away and were often passed when returning home when needed. The swimming pool is a godsend to return to after a hot day out and about. Roger & Jane have a wealth of knowledge of the area and couldn't be more helpful. The welcome pack with ingredients for are first evening was much appreciated along with the wine and beer. Many thanks for a fabulous week - just wished it could have been longer.

Wonderful property - excellent location

Had a wonderful stay at La Fleurie! Beautiful, private property with a gorgeous pool area. Lots to do within 40 minutes drive - Narbonne, Carcassonne, kayaking, horse-riding, Canal-du-midi, cycling, etc, etc. Roger and Jane are wonderful hosts - providing lots of information and key tips, without intruding on privacy.

Perfect family holiday (Copy of review on Trip Advisor)

La Fleurie provided the perfect setting for our family holiday. The house is immaculately equipped and the private pool and leafy terrace kept our kids aged 15, 13 and 9 amused for hours. Owners Roger and Jane are really friendly and provided some useful tips on the best things to do in the local area, from the beach at Gruissan and restaurants in Le Somail to local bike hire along the canal and a boat trip in Narbonne. If you're looking for a relaxing setting in luxurious accommodation, La Fleurie will provide all you need. The welcome pack consisting of wine, fresh baguette, milk and other essential items was particularly appreciated on our arrival. I highly recommend La Fleurie and wouldn't hesitate to stay again if we visit the area in future.

Pretty Idyllic (Copy of review on Trip Advisor)

This was our second stay at La Fleurie, the first time in all our years holidaying in France we have gone back to stay in the same rental. It is well situated in the village of Mirepeisset which has a small shop and a couple of eateries. Roger and Jane have a created a lovely place which is well equipped and extremely comfortable. On our arrival there was milk in the fridge, and products to make up a meal that evening. The pool is a real asset, nice and private. Roger and Jane are great hosts, they live in the nearby house and are on hand if there is any problem, not that there was, and will offer advice on most things in the area. Perfect hosts. The village is close to the Canal Du Midi which provides nice walks or boat trips. Narbonne indoor market provides a vast array of fantastic fresh vegetables, meat and fish.

Beautiful house with fantastic hosts! We had a fantastic stay at la fleurie. The house is beautiful and spotlessly clean. There were 6 of us in total; two couples, a baby and a toddler and we had a great holiday. Roger and Jane are fantastic hosts - Roger recommended and booked a restaurant for us in nearby Minerve and it was an unforgettable meal. The perfect base to explore all the nearby sights!

A wonderful stay (copy of review on Home Away)

Sara | 20/05/2019 |
La Fleurie is a high quality gite. The house is spacious and nicely furnished. Beds were comfortable and linen and towels were provided. The hosts provided a starter pack; a bottle of wine, beers, breakfast items. This was a lovely surprise. Also there were really useful condiments such as olive oil, balsamic vinegar etc. which meant we didn't have to buy these items. The outside space, which is walled and provides total privacy, gets the sun throughout the day and is perfect for relaxing in the sunshine. The outdoor furnishings are good quality with plenty of parasols to provide shade if required. The hosts were able to provide much local knowledge and made recommendations for local restaurants, all of which turned out to be spot on. I would recommend this gite to anyone and would love to return one day.

Super stay in Mirepeisset

Tina and Ian | 03/05/2019 |
La Fleurie is a lovely property, superbly kitted out and very tastefully decorated, in a convenient location for exploring this wonderful area of France. We had a very warm welcome from Roger and Jane when we arrived and were extremely grateful for the selection of food and drink that they had thoughtfully bought for us so that we didn't have to rush off to buy the essentials. The suggestions for days out and places to eat were very useful; I think we managed to tick off all the visits that were recommended, and a fair few of the restaurants. Roger and Jane were keen to make sure that we had everything we needed to enjoy a wonderful holiday, and they helped us to achieved just that. Particularly grateful to them for booking a vet's appointment for our pooch (as part of the Pet Passport requirements) before we returned to the UK! We would stay again without hesitation if we are ever in this part of France.

Immaculately clean, and very well appointed. Fantastic personal pool, cleaned every day. Local village shop for fresh daily bread. Great location for river walks and the Canal du Midi. Restaurants in the village and at nearby villages for variety to suit all budget. Amazing service from the owner, who lives next door, was available but didn't interfere.

Fab second visit, great location , amazing hosts. (Copy of review on Home Away)

A wonderful holiday again , this time at La Fleurie , a spacious airy well equipped gite with lovely pool ; plus the best welcome pack we've ever had in France, thank-you. Roger and Jane are great hosts, nothing is too much trouble , their knowledge of the local area plus restaurants helped plan our days out. Visits to Roquebrun, Minerve ,Assignan, Narbonne and Leucat beach were all fantastic, plus walks along the canal to Le Somail. Would recommend eating their at L'o a la Bouche , home cooked food with local produce. The week went too quick though!!! hope to return one day.

A fantastic 2 weeks in Mirepeisset! (Copy of review on Home Away)

Matthew and Caroline | 30/06/2018 |
We stayed at La Fleurie for 2 weeks in July. We were greeted on arrival by Roger and Jane and made to feel very welcome at the Winemaker’s House. We are a family of 6 with 4 children aged 11-18 years. We were all slightly anxious about sharing a property site with the owners having had a bad experience elsewhere in France previously. However, on this occasion, we had a completely different experience. Roger and Jane were friendly, unobtrusive but available when required. Roger was able to guide us towards the best possible things to do in the area and we had a number of great days out. This included trips to the beach at Leucate, visiting Abbaye de Fontfroide and Lagrasse, river swimming at Ribaute and a canoe trip at Roquebrun. We also visited Narbonne for its market and explored the canal du Midi on bike and foot. The wider area was also very good for exploring on a road bike. Roger was very helpful in booking a couple of wonderful meals out in canal side restaurants a short walk away at Le Somail. We had also arranged a wine tasting tour and canal trip with Taste du Languedoc which was a great alcoholic day out! The accommodation was clean, modern and well equipped with enough space for 6 of us. Roger and Jane also provide a very nice welcome pack - the best in 11 years of holidaying in France! The nearest supermarket was 10minutes by car. The WIFI on occasion struggled with intensive teenager use! The UK TV channels were also appreciated s the World Cup was on during our stay. The weather was very hot when we stayed and the fans and mosquito repellents were most welcome. Overall, a fantastic 2 weeks and we would have no hesistation in recommending the Winemaker’s House as a holiday destination.

Very Welcoming!! (Copy of review on Home Away)

I have just spent a week in this property with my family and we had a wonderful time, the gite was perfect for a family holiday, the fact that all the bedrooms have an en-suite is great when travelling as three couples. The service was impeccable from start to finish, as soon as the booking was confirmed by HomeAway Roger was in touch to ensure that we had all the information we required and then as the holiday drew nearer he contacted me to recommend local trips, he put me in touch with an excellent company that does wine tours and I was able to book that prior to arrival. When we arrived, Roger and Jane were waiting for us and greeted us like we were old friends, it was lovely. I had been sent detailed driving instructions to get from the airport and we arrived without any problem. The property itself was amazing, absolutely spotless and equipped with everything you might need to make you holiday enjoyable, there was even an extensive welcome basket with some lovely food to enjoy. Roger and Jane are on hand as much or as little as you need them throughout the holiday and stress that if anything is required you can just knock on their door, be that about the property, a recommendation for a restaurant or directions, they were happy to help. Roger also came and sat with us for half an hour on our first evening for a drink in the lovely garden and gave us lots of information on the local area and what is worth seeing, as well as offering to book some excursions for us. Overall, this was an excellent experience, I would highly recommend it, we all had a fabulous time and were so sorry to leave, we could have easily stayed another week....or moved there permanently!!!

Super gite in a lovely village (Copy of review on Home Away)

Mandy and Mike | 15/06/2018 |
La Fleurie is a very spacious and well equipped gite with a lovely private pool. The welcome package of groceries is the best we have ever found in a gite and it is also equipped with many helpful items like mosquito plugs and picnic cool box etc Mirepeisset is a very nice village with a shop (selling fresh croissants each morning) and a restaurant down by the river which serves good food. There are many very good restaurants in Le Somail - just a five minute drive or a longer walk along the canal. Roger & Jane are the most welcoming and helpful hosts. I would definitely recommend this gite!

Fabulous holiday (Copy of review on Trip Advisor)

Hazel | 28/05/2018 |
Roger and Jane are great hosts and have thought of everything for a lovely stay. We didn’t have to rush out to get toilet rolls or dishwasher tablets etc, as has happened many times before in other holiday rentals. It’s fully equipped. The pool is gorgeous and a real suntrap, sadly we didn’t get much sun, but as a result we went out exploring and there is plenty to do. Carcassonne is a must do, it’s gorgeous, but wear comfy shoes as theres loads of steps etc, but worth it. La Somail is on the canal and in walking distance, it’s really pretty with about 4 restaurants, all of which are very good. The first day we decided to walk to La Someil there was a big storm on our way back, and Roger contacted us to ask if he could pick us up! You have to agree, that is above and beyond! All in all, this was a fabulous trip, and we would definitely revisit. The location and surrounding areas are great too. We’ve been to quite a few areas of France and this one now holds a warm place in our hearts.

Beautiful gite - third stay here (Copy of review on Home Away)

This was our third stay at La Fleurie and as usual we had a wonderful holiday. The gite is comfortable, is impeccably clean and tidy on arrival and offers a generous welcome pack. Hosts Roger and Jane are always on hand to give good suggestions for local restaurants and ideas for days out. I am sure we will return. Highly recommended.

A well equipped gite in a lovely location. (Copy of review on Home Away)

Simon | 22/10/2017 |
We spent an enjoyable week in Le Fleurie during the last week in October. The weather in late October was warm and sunny – between 20 and 25 degrees each day with clear blue skies. Roger and Jane were very welcoming hosts, with lots of recommendations for places to eat and visit. The gite is situated in a pleasant village and it was a treat to be able to walk to the village shop each morning for fresh bread and pastries. A walk of 25 minutes through the vineyard takes you to Le Somail which has 4 restaurants. The gite itself is very comfortable, clean and well equipped. The layout of the gite suited our family of 4 but it would also be perfect for 3 couples as each bedroom has an en-suite bathroom. The garden is very private and consists of an outdoor eating and sun- bathing area next to a private pool. Mirepeisset is only 35 minutes from lovely beaches at Gruissan Plage and Franqui Plage, pleasant fishing villages at Bages and Peyriac de mer, inland you can visit Carcassonne, any of the Cathar Castlles or the lovely village of Minerve. If you like to bike, walk or run (as we do) then you will find lots of trails to explore nearby. Or you might prefer to stumble between vineyards because the place is surrounded by them!

A lovely relaxing week (Copy of review on Home Away)

Christine | 16/09/2017 |
The property was easy to find and as described, it is a characterful and tastefully presented Barn conversion with lovely pool in a secluded private area. It was well equipped with everything we needed and was spotlessly clean in all areas. The owners, Roger and Jane, were there to greet us and had thoughtfully provided everything for an evening meal and breakfast including some rather tasty local beer. They were extremely helpful in pointing out the local attractions, how to get there, where to park etc and also recommended and booked some really good places for us to eat. All this added to the relaxing ambience of the Gite. We have a dog and they welcomed her warmly and before leaving sorted out a vet for the pet passport to be signed off. The Gite is very comfortable and although the September weather was a bit of a disappointment in terms of temperature, (Roger and Jane said it was unusual and like November!), we were warm enough at night without the need for heating. The only issue with the unusually low night temperatures was that the unheated pool was fairly chilly, never gaining enough heat in the day to be comfortable. (I guess in the height of summer it would be an absolute delight!) Roger told us that he would be looking into getting a cover for next year. We visited Carcassonne (our main reason for choosing the area), a straightforward drive and again Roger had recommended a restaurant in the town which was great. We were able to walk through the vineyards to the nearest village on the Canal du Midi for a couple of evening meals, which were both very good. (If late September take a torch to find your way back, however, on a clear night the stars are beautiful and the milky way clearly visible). The actual village of Mirepeisset does have a couple of restaurants, but when we visited they were closed ( I think one opens at the weekend). It does however have a great little shop, a French ‘ Open All Hours’ that provided our morning croissants and bread, 2 minutes down the road. As a base for exploring the localities it is well positioned being just off the main road to ‘everywhere’. Unless you are really into walking a car is essential although there is bus service in the village. I got the feeling that Roger and Jane genuinely wanted us to make the most of our time there and they did this in an open and warm manner. A very relaxing week, Thank you.

Fantastic family holiday! (Copy of review on Home Away)

Keith and Lucy | 19/08/2017 |
My husband, son (age 13) and daughter (age 8) and I have just spent 2 fantastic weeks at La Fleurie and we would highly recommend this accommodation and area for a family holiday! The Gite, location and activities went beyond our expectations and is certainly the best holiday we have had in France! The spacious Gite is tastefully decorated and has a 400 year old stone wall and high ceiling which definitely gives it a 'wow' factor! It is clean, well equipped and each bedroom has an ensuite which is ideal after a day at the lake or beach. Outside there is a good size swimming pool (which Roger our host discreetly maintained on a daily basis), plenty of loungers and a garden table and chairs, all contained within a beautiful walled garden making it very private. Pool towels were provided too along with parasols and a cool box for a day at the lake or beach. Our hosts Roger and Jane were very welcoming and extremely accommodating, booking activities for us and offering advice on restaurants and days out and accurate weather forecasts! On our arrival a welcome pack for our evening meal and breakfast (including wine and beer!) was provided and greatly appreciated after a long journey. Mirepeisset is a quiet and very quaint village with a lovely little shop/bakery only a 5 minute walk away where we bought our daily croissants and baguettes! For a bigger food shop a supermarket is only a 5 min drive away. We made the most of having our car and everywhere we visited was between 5-45 minutes away. Our days out that we would recommend include visiting Narbonne to see the tallest/smallest cathedral followed by a walk by the canal and finishing the day off with a delicious cake at the 'Delice Cake' cafe is a must! Kayaking, lake swimming and pedalo boating at stunning Roquebrun! The drive to Roquebrun is spectacular too! We really enjoyed an Olive oil tour and tasting at L'Oulibo which included a treasure hunt for the children to keep them interested. We also visited Fonserannes Locks at Bezier and Bezier town with its floating umbrellas and spotty streets on show in the summertime. We also highly recommend the soft sand beaches and clear seas of Gruissan Plage and La Franqui Plage. Jouarres lake was also very good and fairly quiet with a floating Aquapark for the children. In the evening we ate twice at a lovely local restaurant in Mirepeisset called La Garenne and also visited the Marina at Gruissan to eat in restaurants overlooking the boats.

Lovely house full of character with excellent private pool and good location (Copy of review on Trip Advisor)

J & E | 22/07/2017 |
We spent a fortnight here in July 2017 with our teenage children and had a great holiday. The house is very well done out with loads of character and the private pool area was fantastic to cool off during the day and for late night star-gazing swims. The house was spotless and the pool very well-maintained. Roger and Jane were great hosts, unobtrusively on hand whenever we needed anything and gave us great tips for trips out. The house is well placed for days out and we visited castles, abbeys, caves, beaches, "plus beaux villages" and went canoeing and walking, although days lazing by the pool were a pleasure as well. It's a short walk to a well stocked village shop to get morning bread and croissants with a supermarket 10 minutes drive away. There are restaurants within walking distance- in the village and in neighbouring Le Somail. And if you like running there are a couple of different routes to run down to the Canal du Midi and then several options to keep going. La Fleurie ticked all our boxes and is a really good place for a holiday.

Wonderful stay (Copy of review on Trip Advisor)

We stayed in Le Fitou last year and came back for more - this time in La Fleurie. It is a wonderful place to relax and cut off. There is a nice walled patio and pool area with plants and vine all around just for this property. Great for outside dining. This one has three bedrooms, two twins and a double, and each has a bathroom. The kitchen is well equipped and the lounge diner is airy with the vaulted double height ceiling. The hamlet is lovely with an epicerie which sells very decent patisserie every morning only a short pleasant stroll away. There is a river and park and you can bathe in the river. Vineyards all around and a pleasant stroll or cycle will see you in neighbouring villages like Le Somail or Ginestas. Loads of great villages nearby. Mountain, sea or vineyard. There are shops and supermarkets nearby as well as the local farm markets etc. The hosts couldn't be better, very welcoming and entertaining as well as discrete and considerate of privacy etc. We are not people who return to the same place to holiday. Or so we thought. We are already planning next year as we come away feeling recharged and refreshed.

Best welcome ever (Copy of review on Chez Nous)

Best welcome ever, I had read many reviews before we arrived none of which were exaggerated. The Gite was outstanding and is kept to a very high standard. We all had a great holiday, our hosts were discreetly on hand to help us get to know the area, they were very informative with local knowledge! Highly recommended!! AAA!

Just arrived home from a brilliant fortnight staying at La Fleurie and boy what a great time we had. The accomadation was first class, we were well catered for, welcome food pack on arrival, house was airy and very comfortable, ensuites in each room is fantastic. The garden is completely private and the pool was a godsend as we did encounter a French heatwave. Jane and Roger were on hand if we needed anything and had great knowledge about the area. Lots of nice walks locally and along the canals which nearby. The village is ideally located to the Canal du Midi if you want to book at short canal trip, the beaches around the area are lovely and clean most suitable for children. Narbonne is worth a visit, great market, and most condensed cathedral I have ever visited. Roger will recommend great places to eat and they didn't disappoint, L'O a la Bouche at Le Somail well worth a visit. Again I cannot recommend La Fleurie highly enough.

This was our second visit to La Fleurie and it did not disappoint on our return. The villa is comfortable and well appointed and the outside area with private pool provides a perfect retreat for outdoor dining and relaxing. Hosts Roger and Jane provide a warm welcome and are on hand to suggest outings, restaurants and local walks. Highly recommended.

A Real Gem! (Copy of review on Home Away)

La Fleurie is undoubtedly one of the best places we have stayed in and we have travelled around France for years! This is an area rich in experience, colour and culture, do not miss out on the village of Minerve, our favourite. We are a senior married couple plus our working cocker! We love the ease of driving around this area, only the occasional car, a joy! Nothing worse than visiting somewhere and ending up in a traffic jam. The Gite guide gives a list of restaurants so follow that. We tried a few and all are good. Our favourite was L'O à la Bouche at Le Somail (an hour’s lovely walk along the Canal du Midi – 25 minutes through the vineyards or a 5 minute drive from La Fleurie). Sit outside next to the canal. La Fleurie is one of two “gites" at Winemaker’s House and is totally detached from the main house, which is occupied by the owners Roger and Jane (and Lupin the dog). You can see La Fleurie layout on the website. It is well fitted out and tastefully decorated. The kitchen had everything we could wish for including a lovely welcome packet to tide us over, beers and wine included. A good Intermarche is 7 minutes by car away for general provisions and fuel. There is a small “supermarket” in the village that has fresh bread and a host of other stuff. We only used the downstairs bedroom/bathroom. Bed was good and firm and shower was great. Two of our most important requirements. Wifi is strong and TV is “Freeview”. There is a small but well stocked library. But the real gem of La Fleurie is the walled garden that contains the pool and surrounding terrace. It is totally secluded and is a sun trap. French law requires the ability to “screen off” the pool to protect unattended children. It is easily put away out of sight in normal circumstance. Parking is in a gated courtyard so your car is also safe! Roger and Jane are excellent hosts. There when you need them and always willing to help and advise. Jane is an enthusiastic walker and knows the area well. I am sure a bribe of some sort will convince her to show you one of her favourite walks accompanied by Lupin. We needed to get a vet for our dog’s tapeworm tablet (we took Drontal) and a health check for his pet passport. We used Dr David Halloy at Clinique Vétérinaire la Mayrale, 20 minutes by car just before Narbonne. Note! Booking an appointment is best done over the phone not by email. If anyone requires further information on Pet Passports, Roger can pass on to you my contacts.

Wish we could've stayed longer (copy of review on Home Away)

We spent 3 nights at La Fleurie and loved it. The house was spacious, with three lovely ensuite bedrooms and a nicely equipped kitchen. Our hosts, Roger and Jane, provided us with a little welcome pack of food for our first dinner and breakfast which as greatly appreciated. Roger also took the time to make recommendations for places to visit, activities and local restaurants. The little village of Mirepeisset is quiet and we loved walking to get fresh croissants each morning at the little shop. The area is so full of things to do and places to visit that we could've easily spent two weeks. We would highly recommend the property and hope to return again. Our stay was perfect

Fantastische Wochen in Mirepeisset (copy of review on Home Away)

Irene | 22/10/2016 |

Hospitality Par Excellence. 3 Golf courses within 45 minutes (copy or review on Trip Advisor)

Nick | 09/10/2016 |
With 4 of us arriving for a week of golf and from 4 different directions it was simply outstanding to find, on arrival, at La Fleurie our hosts (Roger and Jane Hollings) had filled the kitchen/ with:- bread, butter, milk, juices, tea, coffee, sugar, jam, Nutella (in joke) and everything needed including wines and beers to prevent us having to immediately go shopping. Probably other things too just suffice it to say the welcome pack was beyond expectations. The Gite is large and totally comfortable and is as described. Lovely private pool and courtyard area (top quality pool side and patio furniture with barbecue as well) and space outside in the gated area to park your car/cars off the road. About 45 minutes in either direction to reach the golf courses of Beziers and Carcassonne (both accepting the Golfy card for a 25% green fee discount; check it out. Sadly there are no UK courses currently that accept the card but a year's sub can be regained after 4 rounds of golf at participating courses). Roger and Jane provide full information in the Gite on local restaurants (these are excellent value too), markets, and loads of tourist attractions. The village itself is small but has a grocers shop/bakery and a couple of walking to restaurants. There are supermarkets (we used the big Lidl) within a 10 minute drive so you have splendid isolation (if required) yet access to all that you need. The only downside for us was that on Thursday we had winds of 40k an hour and torrential rain. Can't blame our hosts for that though. Thoroughly recommend La Fleurie.

Delightful (copy of review from Chez Nous)

We spent a week in la Fleurie towards the end of September and were delighted with the house which was beautifully presented and had everything we could possibly need. We were able to make good use of the lovely pool and appreciated how attentive Roger was in keeping it sparkling clean each day. Mirepeisset is a lovely quiet and friendly little village and the surrounding area is a delight to explore. Many thanks Roger and Jane for your hospitality and helpful advice.

Relaxed Tranquility (copy of review on Trip Advisor)

After staying for a week last year we returned for two weeks this year, my wife having had a very serious health problem in the meantime. As last year Roger and Jane were the perfect hosts, nothing was a problem and we had a very relaxed and fun time. We visited, Sete, Collioure, Port Vendres, Gruissan and the Black Mountains, to Minerve, Roquebrun, plus many restaurants all with great food, especially for oysters and langoustines ! Since being at La Fleurie last year the upstairs bedrooms now benefit from new windows which make them much lighter.

Wonderful house and fantastic hosts (copy of review on Trip Advisor)

We spent a great week here late September and were delighted with the house which was extremely spacious and well equipped with everything we could need. We were able to make good use of the pool and garden area which was beautifully presented. Mirepeisset is a lovely, peaceful village in an area with lots to explore. Roger and Jane were wonderful hosts who were able to give us lots of helpful advice on the area. We would love to return.

Calme, confortable et reposant (Copy of review on Home Away)

Olivier | 13/08/2016 |

Comfortable stay in a beautiful French village (copy of review on Trip Advisor)

Helen | 23/07/2016 |
We enjoyed a fabulous 2 weeks at La Fleurie. Jane and Roger were perfect hosts, making our stay comfortable and with plenty of good suggestions for what to and see in the local area. The pool was appreciated very much in the high temperatures during our stay and the garden was beautifully relaxing. The area provided a wide range of opportunities for cycling, canoeing, castles, beaches and of course, wine tasting. Would definitely recommend this gite.

Idyllic rural France (copy of review on Home Away)

Una | 25/06/2016 |
We had a lovely week staying in La Fleurie. It is situated in the heart of the the small traditional village, only a short stroll to the local shop or restaurant. The gite is very spacious and extremely well equipped, there is even a cool box for picnics. It was spotlessly clean with tasteful decor/furnishings.The outdoor area is a real treat-we loved having our meals al fresco in the beautifully tended garden. The village is well situated for exploring the Languedoc area - Les Halles market in Narbonne is worth a visit and there is a plethora of gorgeous villages to discover. It is also a fairly short drive to Mediterranean beaches. Roger and Jane were welcoming hosts who generously shared information and recommendations on places to visit and dine in the area. We would highly recommend this property to anyone thinking of visiting this varied region of France

Delightful Stay (Copy of review on Home away)

Richard | 18/06/2016 |
We stayed at La Fleurie at the best possible time. The weather has been great and so is this wonderful Gite. The accomodation is to a very high standard. There are three en suite bedrooms and the living area spacious. The place is immaculate with modern furnishings and good beds. Very important when there is so much to see and do! The kitchen is well equipped and the garden and pool compact but delightful. Best of all our hosts Roger and Jane could not be more helpful arranging trips to local restaurants kayaking a cruise down the canal and a trip to a vineyard I would have no hesitation recommending this place. Have a great holiday. We did!

Wonderful accomodation and fabulous hosts

Jan | 13/05/2016 |
Arrived at La fleurie on a damp cool Friday afternoon but after receiving a huge welcome from Jane and Roger it immediately brightened the day. La Fleurie certainly lived up to expectations. Its bright airy spotlessly clean and tastefully furnished. The kitchen is very well equipped and welcome food pack provided all we needed for dinner and breakfast the following day. The garden of La Fleurie is secluded and pretty with sunloungers, bbq and patio table and chairs and its own pool. Couldnt have wished for better accomodation. The village of Mirepeisset is a great base for exploring this beautiful area of France. La Taverne serves great food and you can buy everything you need in the local shop run by Lydia. Fresh croissants and bread for breakfast is a must! Larger supermarket is about a 10 min drive away. A walk along the Canal Du Midi to Le Somail is well worth the trip. Le Somail is beautiful with great restaurants and the most amazing bookshop. A wonderful stay and can't wait to make a return visit

Excellent on all counts!

We have just returned from a delightful week at La Fleurie. This is a modern comfortable gite tastefully renovated from an old barn with a nicely secluded garden and pool. Owners, Roger and Jane were on hand and were most helpful and welcoming with suggestions for excursions and dining out. Our welcome pack of groceries was generous and saved a dash to the shops on the first night which was very helpful. Wifi was also fast and reliable. This is a lovely house in a beautiful village and highly recommended.

An extremely pleasant and effortless stay

| 15/10/2015 |
Located about an hour from Carcassone Airport in a hire car and set in the charming village of Mirepeisset, La Fleurie is a newly renovated and spacious 3 bedroom gite. Our hosts, Roger and Jane Hollings provided us with a food and beverage welcome pack and were on hand to help and advise with practicalities and things to do and see. We were also given a detailed guide to both of these aspects of our stay. Though the weather was a bit chilly for a couple of days it soon warmed up, enabling us to divide our time between sitting around our own wall-garden private pool and self-catering in the well-equipped kitchen as well as visiting places of interest (of which there are many in the region). We also ate some very good meals out so all bases were covered!

Tre Tre Bon !

| 30/09/2015 |
Roger and Jane are very helpful and knowledgeable without being obtrusive, the Gite was beautifully clean and linen beds and towels of a very high quality. There is WiFi and a good selection of UK TV channels to watch if you have time ! The pool and pool area was spotless and the sun lounger mattresses were very generous. The village has a small but very interesting bread / convenience shop and La Taverne restaurant is great for steaks and duck cooked to order on an open fire. A must visit is Minerve, beautiful setting in the "Mountain Noir" while you are there, book a table on the terrace at Relais Chantovent for fantastic gourmet food ! We only had a week, there is so much to see, we've booked here for two weeks next year !
